The sport took root in this country with the arrival of Grand Master Leong Wai Meng in 1977. Grand Master Leong established Taekwon-Do clubs in several towns on the coast and in 1979 was Greenland Taekwon-do Federation founded.
GTF is a member of International Taekwon-do Federation (ITF). The national team participates in European Championships, World Championships and World Cups. The korean sport has won many international medals for Greenland over the years.
The national championships are held every year for juniors, seniors and veterans. There are also Childrens Cup during the national championships.
